Globalwarming Awareness2007 - Great News….

On 1st May at 18.00 EST we ended up at THIRD in the contest as per the official scoreboard on the contest website. However, as they have mentioned it would take 24 hours for them to scrutiny all sites , I am waiting for the official declaration

We are the FIRST among all the Indian Entries which is also a proud moment… So that proves our expertise in SEO ..

We also were first for an entire week one month ago on the scoreboard and were second on google for 4 days..

At the time of the contest closure however:

Some people don’t think global warming is happening at all. There are several reasons for this:

They don’t think the data show a measurable upward trend in global temperatures, either because we don’t have enough long-term historical climate data or because the data we do have isn’t clear enough.

Some scientists think that data is being interpreted incorrectly by people who are already worried about global warming. That is, these people are looking for evidence of global warming in the statistics, instead of looking at the evidence objectively and trying to figure out what it means.

Any increase in global temperatures we are seeing could be a natural climate shift, or it could be due to other factors than greenhouse gases.

Some scientists recognize that global warming does seem to be happening, but they disagree that it is anything to be worried about. These scientists say that the Earth is more resistant to climate changes on this scale than we think. Plants and animals will adapt to subtle shifts in weather patterns, and it is unlikely anything catastrophic will happen as a result of global warming. Slightly longer growing seasons, changes in precipitation levels and stronger weather, in their opinion, are not generally disastrous. They also argue that the economic damage caused by cutting down on the emission of greenhouse gases will be far more damaging to humans than any of the effects of global warming.What’s the correct answer? It can be hard to figure out. Most scientists will tell you that global warming is real and that it is likely to do some kind of harm, but the extent of the problem and the danger posed by the effects are wide open for debate.

Yes, this is something strange. The homepage is nowhere in the google index right now for ‘globalwarming awareness2007′ , but the inside pages shows at a decent 67 in Google SERPs for - gobalwarming awareness2007 . This is strange because, if its de-indexed, then I expected all pages to be deindexed too. But overall it seems to be a temporary rattle before everything settles down. Most don’t believe in the Google Sandbox theory but what happened here suggests an existence of some kind of control.. I searched for the domain www.globalwarming-awareness2007blog.com and found it nowhere in the Google SERP’s

So finally it seems like Google has pulled the chain on this site…but thats good. Lets see how long it keeps pulling. However, the site is still at 67, as one page still manages to hold on to that position in Google. Simply strange !!

Global warming is the observed increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation into the future.

Global average near-surface atmospheric temperature rose 0.6 ± 0.2 °Celsius (1.1 ± 0.4 °Fahrenheit) in the 20th century. The prevailing scientific opinion on climate change is that “most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activities” [1].

The main cause of the human-induced component of warming is the increased atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases (GHGs) such as carbon dioxide (CO₂). This leads to warming of the surface and lower atmosphere by increasing the greenhouse effect. Greenhouse gases are released by activities such as the burning of fossil fuels, land clearing, and agriculture.

The measure of the response to increased GHGs, and other anthropogenic and natural climate forcings is climate sensitivity. It is found by observational [2] and model studies. This sensitivity is usually expressed in terms of the temperature response expected from a doubling of CO₂ in the atmosphere. The current literature estimates sensitivity in the range 1.5-4.5 °C (2.7-8.1 °F). Models referenced by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predict that global temperatures may increase by between 1.4 and 5.8 °C (2.5 to 10.5 °F) between 1990 and 2100. The uncertainty in this range results from both the difficulty of predicting the volume of future greenhouse gas emissions and uncertainty about climate sensitivity.

An increase in global temperatures can in turn cause other changes, including a rising sea level and changes in the amount and pattern of precipitation. These changes may increase the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, such as floods, droughts, heat waves, hurricanes, and tornados. Other consequences include higher or lower agricultural yields, glacier retreat, reduced summer streamflows, species extinctions and increases in the ranges of disease vectors. Warming is expected to affect the number and magnitude of these events; however, it is difficult to connect particular events to global warming. Although most studies focus on the period up to 2100, warming (and sea level rise due to thermal expansion) is expected to continue past then, since CO₂ has a long average atmospheric lifetime.

Remaining scientific uncertainties include the exact degree of climate change expected in the future, and especially how changes will vary from region to region across the globe. A hotly contested political and public debate has yet to be resolved, regarding whether anything should be done, and what could be cost-effectively done to reduce or reverse future warming, or to deal with the expected consequences.
